Drs. Elizabeth Pomfret and James Pomposelli, members of the transplant team at the Lahey Clinic founded Thalia House in 1999. The Lahey Clinic was one of the first centers to perform live donor liver transplantation-the removal of a portion of liver from a living individual and transplanting it into an adult patient. Families are faced with transportation and housing cost, lost wages and extreme stress. Thalia House was developed to address these needs.
