About Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation
The mission of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Foundation is to prevent death and disability from sudden cardiac arrest. The vision of the SCA Foundation is to increase awareness about SCA and influence attitudinal and behavioral changes that will reduce mortality and morbidity from SCA. Specifically, we envision that our efforts will help: 1. Increase the rate of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from 20% to 30% within 5 years; 2. Double the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) outside the hospital within 5 years (increase from <5% to 10%); 3. Increase the use of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) for primary and secondary prevention of SCA; 4. Double the rate of survival to hospital discharge within 10 years (increase from 7% to 14%).
