About CHILDRENS GLAUCOMA FOUNDATION INC

The Children's Glaucoma Foundation was formed by a group of physicians, parents of children with glaucoma, and concerned citizens. Childhood glaucoma is a rare disease occurring in 1 in 10,000 children. Yet, this disease is a leading cause of blindness in infants and children. Many parents are unaware children can have glaucoma. Pediatricians and primary doctors infrequently see children with glaucoma. Because of this, a child's glaucoma may go unrecognized before the child experiences vision loss. The Children's Glaucoma Foundation was founded to support programs for children with glaucoma. We are trying to increase awareness of the symptoms and encourage parents and physicians to screen infants and children. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential to prevent vision loss.
