Since 1960, BBBS has been serving children from single parent families by placing them in mentoring relationships with carefully screened and trained adult volunteers. The agency has doubled the number of children it serves over the past 19 months, going from just over 700 children served, to more than 1,500 children served in metro Atlanta. With a staff of 58 professionals and a budget of $3.2 million, BBBS of Metro Atlanta has become one of the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies in the U.S and a leader in our national federation. BBBS was the recipient of the 1999 Impact Award from the Metro Atlanta Corporate Volunteerism Council which recognizes the organization which best exemplifies a commitment to furthering the ongoing efforts of America’s Promise – The Alliance for Youth. Our agency was also a finalist in the Georgia Center for Non-profit’s 2000 Managing for Excellence Award.
