About Grandmothers of the Light, Inc.

Grandmothers of the Light is based in Fresno, CA and serves children of the entire state of California. Specifically, we work with the children of incarcerated women and men throughout the state. Between 1-4 times a month we prepare and serve a hot breakfast, lunch boxes and travel bags to the families riding the Chowchilla Family Express buses to visits Moms at the two largest prisons in the world located in Chowchilla, CA.

Some of our other projects include EDUCATE to LIBERATE (providing textbooks and school supplies to female prisoners); GOOD WOMAN DOWN (providing Christmas gift bags from kids to Moms at Valley State Prison for Women); and HAPPY TALKS (providing phone calls from Moms to Kids).

Why should you help and how does this affect you? Because 70% of the children we help will one day enter the prison system unless you and I intervene NOW. Because if we want to stop building prisons, raise public safety standards and create a future generation of stable, law abiding adults, we MUST START NOW with this high risk generation.

Waiting until people have committed a felony is waiting TOO LONG. We cannot afford NOT to help these vulnerable kids.
