About GERMAN-TEXAN HERITAGE SOCIETY
The German-Texan Heritage Society is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting of the German cultural heritage of Texas. Founded in 1978, the Society has a long-standing record of community enrichment, achieved through cultural events, such as Maifest (a Spring festival), Oktoberfest, the Christmas Market, and an Annual Convention; through educational resources, such as book publishing, the quarterly Journal, a research library, genealogy services, a monthly speaker series and a German language program; and through social gatherings like the weekly Stammtisch (German-speaking lunch), German Film Night, and bi-monthly potluck dinners.
