49 Writers/49 Alaska Writing Center is a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting the artistic development of writers throughout Alaska, fostering a writing community, and building an audience for literature. Our programming and work are built on the core values of Creativity, Craft, and Culture.
Our premiere fundraiser is our annual Write-a-thon, an event that allows us to raise money for our programs in a way that is both fun and consistent with our mission. This year's Write-a-thon will take place in Anchorage at Snow City Cafe (corner of 4th Avenue and L Street downtown) on April 13th, with the pledge process occurring in the weeks leading up to the event. Participants will write for 4 hours and 9 minutes (5:00 to 9:09 pm) and enjoy an afterparty from 9:30 to 11:00 pm. We look forward to a memorable night of bringing the local writing community together for a good cause and a good time.
