Imagine being diagnosed with a mulit-system incurable disease like lupus. Imagine dealing with the crippling fatigue, hair loss, seizures, memory loss, arthritis and organ damage. Imagine having to change your entire lifestyle over night to accomodate your pain, symptoms and doctors visits. Imagine!!!
Now imagine finding out that the medications you are being given to control your disease not only have toxic and potentially dangerous side effects of their own, but they are the same medications that were given to treat lupus in the 1950`s. This is what over 2 Million Americans who have lupus face today.
There has not been a new medication approved by the FDA for lupus in over 50 years!
May is Lupus Awareness month. Please join the Lupus Alliance of LIQ in their fight against lupus with their 50 for 50 campaign. The 50 for 50 campaign was designed to spread awareness about lupus, and the long fight we are still battling to receive better medications!
There are several ways you can Help & Win!
- First, foremost and easiest! Donate any denomination of 50 to this fundraising webpage. $1.50, $2.50, $5.50, $50.00, etc! Be sure to send the link to all your friends and family as well and ask them to donate too!
- Donate at least $5.50 to the 50 for 50 campaign through this page and your name will be entered into the raffle to win a $200 Visa Gift Card!Name will be drawn at the Lupus office in Bellmore on June 1st, winner be notified and announced on our website, 50 for 50 fundraising page, facebook profile and twitter.
- If you have a facebook page, donate at least $5.50 and send out at least 2 recruiting messages to your friends and you could win a $200 Visa Gift card. Just email us a copy of the message you send to your facebook friends and you are entered. You must send a minimum of 2 recruit messages to your facebook friends in order to be eligible to win. Send copies of your facebook messages to us at lupus11710@aol.com. Name will be drawn at the Lupus office in Bellmore on June 1st, winner be notified and announced on our website, 50 for 50 fundraising page, facebook profile and twitter.
- If you twitter you can win a $200 Gift card as well! Donate at least $5.50 and register with us at Lupus11710@aol.com so we can track your tweets. You must retweet the information on our 50 for 50 campaign at least twice to be eligible to win a $200 Visa gift card. - Sign the 50 for 50 petition asking the government to help fund more research into new and safer medications for lupus!
- If you have a facebook page help spread awareness about lupus by “donating” your facebook profile picture to our “50 years is long enough” logo for the month of May, and ask your friends to do so as well. Get the logo here.
- Be a lupus star, and make a video about your experiences with lupus, (especially about your experience with lupus medications and their side effects) and send it to the Alliance at info@lupusliqueens.org. All videos will be posted on our YouTube page.
