The Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDRF) is a non-profit organization that is actively involved in taking in and finding new, loving homes for at risk cats and dogs. In this process, LDRF ensures that these companion animals are temperament tested, current on all necessary vaccinations, and either spayed or neutered. For animals that are too young to be sterilized at the time of adoption, LDRF enters into a contractual relationship with the adoptive family to ensure that, when the animal reaches the appropriate age, the sterilization is performed. LDRF conducts public adoption events at local pet shops and various community events on weekends. These events are staffed by volunteers who interview prospective adopters, answer questions about the animals, and take advantage of the opportunity to educate the public on the benefits of spaying and neutering; the need to obtain proper veterinary care; and of providing basic obedience training to their pets.
