826 Seattle is a nonprofit writing and tutoring center dedicated to helping young people improve their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around our belief that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.  All programs at 826 Seattle are free of charge.

Now it's time to . . . Dance Your Cash Off!

Join us for 826 Seattle’s third annual Dance Your Cash Off! Five hours of fancy fresh dancing and fun-filled fundraising...all in support of the free programs of 826 Seattle! Mark your calendars (and dust off those dancing shoes) for June 20, at the Nectar Lounge in Fremont.

Is it hard to decide how much to donate to support your favorite dancer? We're here to help! Simply choose one of the following Suggested Donation Levels:

$826 "Vogue" Level pays for staff person and a team of trained volunteers to visit a local school two times to help a teacher with their writing curriculum

$500 "The Hustle" Level pays the transportation/bus fees for three south-end schools to attend a field trip

$100 "Single Ladies" Level pays for one student to attend a two session workshop

$25 "Foxtrot" Level covers the cost of one student to attend a field trip

$20 "Lambada" Level buys two jump drives for students to save their work-in-progress to take home and edit

$10 "The Twist" Level buys 12 dozen #2 pencils (we go through about 4,234,209 of these per year)

In November 2011, 826 Seattle was honored with a 2011 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award. The National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award is the nation's highest honor for after-school arts and humanities programs. This award recognizes and supports outstanding programs that lay new pathways to creativity, expression, and achievement outside of the regular school day.
