About Jewish Women's Archive, Inc.
While historians have catalogued Jewish life for thousands of years, there has been no systematic effort to gather and make available the record of Jewish women's experience. The Jewish Women's Archive was founded in 1995 to answer that need: to create a comprehensive record of the achievements of American Jewish women, past and present, and to develop resources and programs to make that information accessible to scholars, educators, students and the general public. The Jewish Women's Archive has a vision of a world in which we celebrate equally the achievements of women and men, a world in which all of our children, girls and boys alike, are encouraged to fulfill their highest potential. In this world, the work and achievements of Jewish women fill the history books; celebrations include and pay tribute to the accomplishments of Jewish women; and young girls and boys have Jewish women role models to admire and emulate. The Jewish Women's Archive is for scholars. For activists. For mothers and daughters. For fathers and sons. For researchers, historians, and for all who believe that everyone with a stake in history is a keeper of it and a partner in its transmission. By supporting JWA, you can make a powerful statement that women are important, that our place in history cannot be denied, and that the greatest gift we can give our children is our history.
