Sending a child with diabetes to camp is the best thing you can do for them to learn independence and confidence in managing diabetes well, and find support from friends that understand. Camp Seale Harris and our ongoing year-round family support gives kids with diabetes what they need to live. Camp Seale Harris teaches children and families how to live well with diabetes and is the only diabetes camp and community support program for kids and teens in Alabama and Northwest Florida. Our understanding and supportive family network assists with individual and family health year-round. We bring together diabetes professionals including: physicians, nurses, dieticians, and diabetes educators so that children/families can receive out-of-hospital access to comprehensive diabetes management education, support, friendships, and networking with other children and families living with this difficult illness.
Camp Seale Harris overnight camps include: Junior Week (ages 6-13), Senior Week (12-18), Coastal Camp Seale Harris (ages 10-18), Teen Leadership Forum (grades 9-12), and Family Weekends (families of kids with diabetes birth -18). Day Camps are in Birmingham, Dothan, Huntsville, Mobile, and Tuscaloosa. Community Family Support events year round throughout Alabama and Northwest Florida offer ongoing learning and support.
Until there is a cure for juvenile diabetes, SDES-Camp Seale Harris helps children and families live well. Donate to give health to a child, and hope to an entire family.
