ABC’s 2011 event will be held in Rochester at the Fair and Expo Center's Minett Hall. Visit http://www.fairandexpocenter.org/ for more information. Minett Hall is an indoor 25,000 sq ft air conditioned area that will let you experience tons of basset fun rain or shine, hot or cold.
ABC’s Basset Hound Rescue's Summer Fest plays a critical role in putting animal rescue efforts into the public spotlight and is one of our largest fundraising events of the year. So, come out with ABC and help support this great breed…there will be games, prizes, shopping and of course, food! All occurring on Saturday June 4, 2011 like years past. New this year is a second day of fun. ABC will be hosting a Rescue Rally on Sunday June 5, 2011. The days activities will include many vendors and other rescue groups along with demonstrations and workshops!
Spend an enjoyable weekend with friends, family and basset hounds rain or shine, hot or cold. There is plenty of onsite parking with a short walk, like going to the mall, to get to the door. Many local hotels to rest your tired body after the first days events to prepare for the second day. There is also onsite camping for 40 RVs with complete hook-ups.
The world famous & largest online basset e-tailer, the Slobber Shoppe will be on hand peddling distinct basset wares for fellow hound lovers. Last year ABC had about 200 hounds…. this year ABC is looking for over 300 hounds to be a part of history… at the largest indoor basset event possible in the northeast.
Summer Fest and Rescue Rally, What’s That?
This years Summer Fest and Rescue Rally is an event ABC is putting on to help raise awareness and money to rescue homeless, unwanted and neglected basset hounds. The average cost to ABC in 2010 was $450 per dog. Last year alone, ABC spent almost $35,000 in vet bills!
It’s a lot of fun and exciting to see hundreds of basset hounds all in one place participating in fun and games. However, let’s not forget what allows us to continue to rescue these homeless and unwanted hounds….YOU!! All of YOU who have volunteered your time, opened up your home for a foster, adopted a dog, and given financial support; this is what allows us to be successful!! With your generosity, ABC has rescued, vetted and adopted out over 600 basset hounds since January 2001…. all bills paid!
