Our personal message:

I originally found out about Ride For Kids in 2004 after being a member of the AMA (American Motorcycle Association) and have participated in their local ride each year since then.  At the time I didn't personally know anyone who had a brain tumor/cancer.  My favorite songwriter/musician Chuck Schuldiner (Death/Control Denied) who died at the age of 34 in 2001 after a 2 year battle with brain stem cancer.  That same year I learned that my favorite lead guitar player James Murphy had a brain tumor that almost cost him his life, he only learned about it after having an eye exam because the tumor was causing temporary blindness (he's currently in remission).  In March 2005 brain tumors really hit close to me as my boss at RCN was rushed unconscious to the hospital with a large tumor at the age of 36, she had been in and out of treatment since, but passed away in May 2006.  Around July of 2005 we learned that my godfather/uncle David also has a brain tumor.  My uncle was brave in fighting as best he could for over a year after the diagnosis, but sadly passed from his illness October 23, 2006.  On May 27, 2006 former NFL RB Craig Heyward passed away after a 7 year fight with brain tumors at age 39.  While all of the people I know may not be the actual target group of PBTF, I'm sure that any breakthroughs on child brain tumors can be applied for adults too.  I don't think there's a person among us who hasn't or won't know or themselves be a victim of this terrible disease.  I encourage all to give a little of their time/money to help others be it through this organization or another.
