On October 1, 2011 the Church of the Good Samaritan is holding our first Walk for Water to benefit Water Missions International.
The day will begin at the church with juice, coffee, and donuts at 10:30am. There will be informational and inspirational messages about the Global Water Crisis and Water Missions International solutions. Our goal is to raise $30,000 for a community development project which will provide safe water, as well as health & hygiene training, for 5000 people in the village of Kopsiro in Kenya.
Each registered WALKER (participant) will receive a t shirt to recognize and remind them of their gift of safe water. They will also receive a 5 gallon bucket to fetch their dirty water at the church and, departing at 11:30, carry it about 1/4 mile to the Paoli Village Shops. There, they will dump their water into the pool and watch the Living Water Treatment System filter and purify it making it safe for drinking. Your friends and supporters can help you carry your water. For each $10 donation, 1 pint of water (1 pound) is transported for you. $400 and you walk with an empty bucket and provide safe water for life for 40 people! But, your participation is far more important than any amount of water you carry (or not).
The walk is the opening event to the Paoli Blues Fest, featuring top blues performers live. There will also be a Street Fair for family fun with food, kids’ activities, street entertainers, as well as vendors, Ferraris and Maseratis, motorcycles, massages and dancing.
