Fundraiser spotlight

Every fundraiser has a story to tell. We are inspired by every Firstgiving page that gets created; here is just a small representation of the efforts that are being made for all types of causes

Thos Niles Firstgiving team member
puts his moustache where his mouth is

A group calling themselves Fund a 'Stache has leapt on the annual Mustache May facial hair celebration and run with it. For the month of May these men let their upper lips go unshaven to raise money for a charity of their choice. It might seem like money for nothing, but here's where the sacrifice comes in - they have to shave all BUT the 'stache and wear it proudly for the first week of June. Firstgiving’s own Thos has even gotten into the fun.

Rubiks cube Two hours of Rubik's Cube solving for a good cause

One of the most famous mind puzzles is being solved - 240 times!! Andy Camann has vowed to solve Rubik’s cubes at the Newton Highlands Village Day event on June 11, 2006. He thinks that he will be able to solve the cube 240 times in the 2 hour span. (We're assuming this is going to be WITHOUT using our trick of snapping off the squares.) Andy is raising money for the Matty Eappen Foundation, whose goal is to educate the public about the dangers of shaking a child.

Mount Rainier Climbing Mount Rainier for World Vision

Teachers, students, and friends of Wheaton Academy High School are raising money to help build two wells in an impoverished village in Zambia, Africa. To build these wells $20,000 needs to be raised through the Team World Vision Charity. Children die every day in this village because of diseases that are obtained by drinking disease- infested water. Building wells in this area can help get clean water to these very needy people. Page creator Scott Souders gives Firstgiving a good deal of credit for helping him reach his lofty goal.

Children's hospital of Wisconsin Small plane to land at 104 airports to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin

Fundraising is being taken to the skies by 2 men in Wisconsin! Bruce and Matt are attempting to fly around Wisconsin landing on the 104 airports that are in the state in support of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Bruce is the medical director of pediatric surgery, so he gets to witness the troubles that the children and their families face on a day to day basis. He decided that he should take his passion for the children and his passion for flying and put them together in his fundraising effort.
