What does Firstgiving do?

Firstgiving enables people to raise money online for their favorite charities with a personalized online fundraising page. Fundraisers using our online fundraising pages raise on average 42% more than those that don't. Our pages make it easier to reach more people and easier for them to donate.

What does it cost to use Firstgiving?

Firstgiving’s services are free for fundraisers and donors. Firstgiving takes a fee of 7.35% of each online donation. This percentage is a summary of fees for credit card processing, hosting, security, administrative, service, etc.

Charity’s that want a branded start page, may have an annual fee. Please contact sales@firstgiving.com for more information

What makes a fundraising page successful?

The most successful fundraisers personalize their pages with photos and compelling personal stories of why they are fundraising. They also send their page to family, friends, co-workers and clients – everyone in their address book!

My charity is not in your system, can I use Firstgiving?

If your charity is a 501(c)(3) or otherwise tax exempt organization, you can use Firstgiving. Firstgiving pulls charity information from Guidestar (www.guidestar.org), a charity database website.

In order to get set up in Firstgiving's system, please have your charity register with Guidestar. To do this, please have your charity visit: http://www.guidestar.org/npo and fill out the "GuideStar Information Form" or contact Guidestar customer service at 800-421-8656.

It’s a free, quick, and painless process for your charity, and takes approximately 72-hours to register with Guidestar. After this, your charity will be available to select for fundraising on our site.
