The Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation (Diabetes Action) is a national non-profit 501(c)3 organization that was founded in 1990 to enhance the quality of life for all people who are affected by diabetes and its complications. The research funded by Diabetes Action includes projects that examine how nutritional and alternative therapies may prevent and treat diabetes. Diabetes Action, emphasizes prevention programs, such as school-based health education programs on American Indian Reservations, free books and free educational programs. Diabetes Action’s scholarships to over 32 summer camps for children with diabetes provide a life enhancing experience for children from families without the financial resources to cover camp expenses.
