I am participating in the 2007 CASA Kid Walk – an event to support abused and neglected children. I’m part of the CASA Cares team. Our goal is raise $5,000 ($1,000 each) – the cost to provide five children with an advocate next year.
Since 1991, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Humboldt has helped over 1,100 kids. CASA recruits, supports, and rigorously trains community volunteers who are advocating for abused and neglected children. After being removed from their legally inadequate homes, these children become part of an overburdened system where their needs can continue to slip through the cracks. That’s where CASA comes in. With legal access to all aspects of the child's life (medical records, school records, etc.), the Court Appointed Special Advocate becomes much more than a friend and mentor to the child. As ever-changing social workers, lawyers, judges, teachers, and foster families try to understand a child's circumstances, the CASA is there to tie in the history of the case with court report recommendations for the child's future.
CASA needs our help. Only 3 in 4 children who need a CASA get a CASA. You can help by making a tax deductible sponsorship. If you'd rather not donate online, you can send a check made out to CASA with "CASA Cares" in the memo to:
CASA of Humboldt
2356 Myrtle Avenue
Eureka , CA. 95501
All of the money raised will go directly towards recruiting, training and supporting the advocates who make such a big difference in these children’s lives. Please help make it possible for every child that needs a CASA to get a CASA.
Thank you for your support, and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate, too!
