What is the Round-Up Walk for Down Syndrome?
The Round-Up Walk is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate without special training. It is a wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. Whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, come and join this year's Round-Up Walk for Down Syndrome! Bring your cowboy boots, and a ten gallon hat and spend the day with family and friends celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness. We'll have a marching band escort our walk along a 1 mile route. We take our walk on a leisurely pace, so that everyone is able to participate. The walk route is lined with hundreds of signs celebrating all persons with Down syndrome. Gather your friends, family, co-workers, etc to come join your "team" to help celebrate your person with Down syndrome!
With monies raised from the Round-Up Walk for Down Syndrome, Families Exploring Down Syndrome is able to contribute to the community and to our members in the following ways…
- Changing Lives Program
- Hospital packets for new parents
- Summer Recreation Scholarships
- Conference reimbursement for parents and individuals with Ds
- Age-specific social activities
- Family Events
- Lending Library
- Supports Special Olympians
- Monthly Speaker
- Newsletters
