The Close to the Coast 5k & 10k is marking it's 18th Anniversary!

The race will be held on Saturday June 22, 2013 at 9:00 am, with all events rain or shine.  The course is run on quiet roads and forest trails along the ocean in beautiful Winslow Park in Freeport, home of the Lobsterman Triathlon. Same-day registration is from 7:15 am to 8:45 am with the race starting at 9:00 am.  There is also a 1K Kids Fun Run after the main race which requires no application or fees and children's prizes will be provided by Wilbur's of Maine.

The race is part of the Winslow Park Family Fun Day, a great time for families.  This year we have decided to amp things up a bit with a free post-race party!!  All registered racers and their children will enjoy a FREE post-race Party with food from Buck's Naked Barbecue, with beverages provided by Linda Bean's (Shipyard Brewery) and Gritty's Brew Pub and a LIVE band: THE MALLET BROTHERS! All adult non-racers will be asked for a  donation to partake of the party, but kids are FREE.  And while you sit and listen to The Mallet Brothers, your children can enjoy the free events of Family Fun Day like: moon bounce house, face painting and games.  Additionally, all racers wishing to camp at Winslow Park will be extended the Freeport Residents fee for campsites.

Registration is $20.00 with guaranteed t-shirt through June 13, 2013 and $20.00 through race day with a possible t-shirt while supplies last.   ALL race proceeds support the Freeport Rotary Club Educational Scholarship Program.  For the past 18 years the Freeport Rotary Club has given over $150,000 in scholarships. Please help us continue this great cause.

As we have joined First Giving this year, we are hoping you might help us to raise money by creating a fundraising page.  Please know that fundraising is not required to take part in this event, it is only optional.  But as an incentive to help us raise funds to provide educational scholarships, any racer who raises $100 will be given FREE registration for the race, with the registration fee returned to you on race day.  Imagine getting paid to race, geting a free t-shirt and then be treated to a free party! We also will be awarding additional prizes for the top individual fundraisers and the top team fundraisers as well.

We pride ourselves on our Race Prizes, PIES from Orchard Hill Farm! The top 2 finishers in each race category receive a pie! What better way to enjpy your pie then after a post race barbeque!
