Bay Area Veterans sponsor Swords to Plowshares' Veterans Day Solar Installation - "Training Vets, Building Sustainable Communities". November 11 & 12, 2011

Bay Area Veterans sponsor Swords to Plowshares' Veterans Day Solar Installation - "Training Vets, Building Sustainable Communities". November 11 & 12, 2011

Bay Area Veterans are proud to sponsor a Swords to Plowshares (S2P) job training solar installation in partnership with GRID Alternatives on Veterans Day Weekend.  Our goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000 to sponsor the training installation.  The S2P job trainees will learn from, and work alongside GRID's skilled staff to install a solar electric system that will mean significant savings for the low-income homeowner.

We hope you'll join Bay Area Veterans in this important event by supporting us with a generous, tax-deductible contribution. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.

A non-profit organization, GRID Alternatives brings the benefits of solar to low-income communities across California all year long. Their work provides hands-on job training in the growing solar industry, reduces greenhouse gases, lowers electricity costs for those who need it most, and engages entire communities in making clean/renewable energy a reality.  Here’s a great story about a veteran they recently helped in Sun City, Ca: http://www.gridalternatives.org/elmer-rankin

Swords to Plowshares has been a pathway and excellent resource for veterans seeking employment and job training opportunities for 35 years. Programs such as their Green Technology Training is offered at no cost to qualified veterans. Swords to Plowshares helps veterans make the transition from a military job to a civilian career as seamless as possible. https://sites.google.com/a/stp-sf.org/employment-training/
