Grace's Story
In early 2010, our middle child, Grace, was diagnosed with a Wilm's tumor, a rare form of kidney cancer. We had a day at home together before she would be admitted to the hospital for surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. We tried to make that day as happy and “normal” as it could be.
During treatment, as Grace was staying home more and more, we sought out places that might bring her some joy. Soon we were introduced to Gilda's and it became just such a place for the entire family. Many times as we were out and about, Grace and our younger son would see the Clubhouse and yell out, “Gilda’s! Oh, please can’t we go and play at Noogieland?” We did. We always received a warm welcome from the staff and volunteers there, and Grace, and the entire family, found joy.
We are so thankful that our life has returned to “normal”. Normal has become precious. We continue to enjoy going to Gilda’s for the great learning opportunities and good, old-fashioned fun. Please create a fundraising page, form a team, and come and run or walk with Grace, and our entire family, as we support this wonderful community resource. Catherine, Todd, Paige, Gavin & Grace Olson

Our mission is to ensure all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.
At Gilda’s Club, we know that cancer affects all members of a family. While medical care treats the disease, people with cancer and their families are often left to deal with equally urgent emotional and social needs. Gilda’s Club helps people take the next step by learning how to live with cancer, whatever the outcome.
Gilda’s Club is the only place where the entire family can join together to experience a community of support. We provide our program entirely free of charge and rely on generous donations from individuals, foundations and corporations to help is get closer to our goal that no one face cancer alone.
For more information on how your donation is helping to make a difference in the lives of so many in our community, please visit GildasClubMadison.org.
