Handball is an extraordinary game.  Because of its demands on the athlete; the need for flexibility, strength, intelligence, endurance and the need to adeptly use the whole body to play; because any player at any level can enjoy its benefits; because it can be played for life.  In so many ways, the game of handball is quite possibly the perfect sport.  The impact of making this sport a part of one’s life extends far beyond a ball and a wall.

Whether a world-class competitor or a casual player, handball provides a complete test for the individuals who participate.  Handball presents players at every level with the opportunity to build their physical and mental stamina, develop coping skills necessary for every aspect of life and find acceptance among a special group of people who have endured the difficulties of learning this challenging endeavor.

Our Mission  - To serve, educate and mentor young people through handball. Making positive contributions  to our communities by providing creative programs that combine athletics and academics to benefit inner city youth.

Inner City Handball Association, Inc. is a public, New York community based, 501C3 not-for-profit, volunteer organization formed in 1991  initially to provide a source of centralized, local Handball information. Realizing a lack of  organized tournaments for the hundreds of  inquiring youths, ICHA expanded its services to run borough wide events over the past 19 years..

ICHA has since run scores of handball tournaments and clinics servicing over 5000 young people each season.

ICHA services include:

·         High School handball introduction  and advance clinics.

·         Referee and coaching certification programs through the USHA.

·         Youth employment for high school and college students.

·         Inexpensive athletic competitions for athletes  age 11 - 70 years young.

·         Subsidized field trips to regional, national and world handball competitions for high school and college athletes.
