Keren Or (Hebrew for ray of light), is the only center of its kind in the world under Jewish auspices devoted exclusively to the care and rehabilitation of blind and low vision children who are also either physically or mentally disabled.  Keren Or students range in age from infancy to young adulthood and each are given a personally tailored educational and therapeutic curriculum.  Recreational and informal activities - arts and crafts, field trips, parties, cooking, and sports are integrated into Keren Or's daily routine of therapy and training.  The newest addition to the facility is the Hydrotherapy Center, which provides unparalleled sensory stimulation and freedom of movement to the students.

Keren Or also serves the needs of 18-25 year old "graduates;" housed in their own apartments, these young men and women strive to become semi-independent. With the supervision of specially trained staff, they learn household and vocational skills while enjoying social activities geared to their age group.  Keren Or’s state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated staff, and individualized therapy programs allow each of the over 100 students to reach his or her maximum potential.

The New York office of Keren Or works to support the Center in Jerusalem by communicating with and engaging donors in the United States.  Keren Or also provides opportunities for Bar/Bat Mitzvah students, high school and college students, and young professionals to support the Center through spreading awareness, fundraising, and volunteering.  This is where you come in-- Keren Or receives some funding from the Israeli government and tuition from parents, but this is not enough to provide the excellent care for which Keren Or is known.  The money that you raise will go directly to help support Keren Or and the children and young adults at our Center in Jerusalem.

Thank you for making a difference in a child's life.
