The 2011 DUKE CITY SLEEP OUT has been canceled
due to heavy air pollution

Perhaps the saddest part of this update is that the very individuals for whom we are raising money do not have the choice to sleep inside. Every day, people experiencing homelessness battle scorching heat, bitter cold, pouring rain and blustery winds while trying to find a place to lay their head at night. They do not have the same opportunity as we do to seek shelter from the elements. There are no winners here – from the people in Arizona who are now displaced and potentially homeless, to the donors and supporters who were looking forward to a great Sleep Out and to the people we serve who are now without the funds that we were hoping to raise.

Because we can’t Sleep Out together this weekend we ask that you SLEEP IN! Get your team and donors together and pitch your tents inside this Friday night! We want you to send us your best SLEEP IN photos and videos to post on our website and share with the media to help raise awareness and support for the MHP. Did we forget to mention the prizes? Your pictures and videos can win GREAT prizes like Camper Care Packages and gift cards:

Be CREATIVE! We want to see what our campers got! How did you camp indoors? What did you eat? How did you celebrate? Submit your best work with contact information to dukecitysleepout@mhp-nm.org by Monday, June 13, 2010 to qualify.

We’ll be inviting all our DCSO campers and sponsors to our annual Fall Bar B Q on October 15, 2011 to support MHP to thank you for your contributions this year, so please watch your email for details.
