Hello and Welcome!
At Meals On Wheels of Asheville-Buncombe County (MOW-ABC) we serve over 500 homebound elderly clients a nutritious lunch each weekday. Cooking starts at 5:30 AM! Our hardworking staff plans menus and prepares the food, works with clients and their families, organizes volunteers, and administers a variety of resources to help our clients live comfortably, securely and independently. But it's our volunteer network of over 300 caring individuals who are the real heroes! They deliver the food, a warm smile and few moments of friendly conversation with every trip. That makes a world of difference in the lives of our homebound seniors!
MOW-ABC is the largest home meal delivery provider in Western NC and the fourth largest meal program in North Carolina. We are an independent, grass-roots non-profit organization that depends on the support of our local community to do our work. Events like the annual Polar Plunge and Wheel Ride For Food help us raise the funds needed to help homebound seniors remain independent. After all, doesn't everyone deserve to grow old with dignity? For more information on how you can get involved, please visit our website: www.mowabc.org

Wheel Ride For Food
The annual Wheel Ride For Food is a cycling event that features a Metric Half Century (32.5 miles), a Metric Full Century (65-miles) and a Full Century (100-mile) course. The Metric Half Century course explores the rolling hills and scenic byways of Alexander, Weaverville, Marshall and remote parts of Buncombe County and is well-suited to the beginner to mid-level cyclist. The Metric Full Century course is more challenging for the mid-level to experienced cyclist and winds through parts of Buncombe and Madison counties, along quiet backroads and through the Ox Creek Community down across Town Mountain. Looking for a good climb and scenic beauty? You should try our Full Century ride and really feel the burn while you're supporting Meals On Wheels!
