Thank you for your interest in the Maitreya Education Project, which provides free education to village children from poor families in northern India. The unique curriculum, emphasising ethical development as well as academic achievement, covers primary, secondary and vocational education. In Bodhgaya, India, the place of the Buddha's enlightenment in Bihar state, the Maitreya Universal Education School teaches 500 pupils from Kindergarten to completion of Class 10, when some students go on to higher education or vocational training. In Kushinagar, the place where the Buddha passed away in Uttar Pradesh state, similar schools will be built.
Our schools are solely funded by donation and we would be delighted to have anybody sponsor a fundraiser for our school. We are also very grateful to all those who would prefer to make a direct donation.
For further information on the activities of our schools, please see our Blog page - a direct link is in the Resource section located in the sidebar to the right.
Many thanks!
