This year, Team Neely will be supporting the Foundation's latest project, the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit, which is a part of The Michael Neely Center for Brain Tumor Care and Research. The Center supports initiatives that benefit brain tumor patients and their families, as well as patients who suffer from other serious conditions involving the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system. Efforts supported to date by The Michael Neely Center include a Minimally Invasive Neurosurgical Operating Room, the funding of state-of-the-art neurosurgical technology, the renovation of the Department of Neurosurgery’s outpatient clinic, and the establishment of a Brain Tumor Research Laboratory. The Michael Neely Center’s next major initiative involves an exciting partnership with Tufts Medical Center to build a new Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit, to serve the unique needs of neurosurgery and neurology patients. The dedicated unit will be a 21st century ICU that supports family involvement in care, the latest bedside clinical technologies, and a healing environment.
