Welcome to the PEPY August Volunteer Adventure in Phnom Penh page!

Donations made on this page will support the efforts of our August PEPY volunteers in Cambodia.  By donating on this site, your donations will go directly towards the Cambodian Children's Fund, (CCF) a school and orphanage working to improve the lives of Cambodia's most impoverished children.  Please visit their site at www.cambodianchildrensfund.org for more details on their outstanding efforts.

The main focus of our efforts this August will be to raise $5,500 to create The PEPY Ride Medical Center at CCF2, their newly opened second school/orphanage which provides a home, education, and vocational training for 60 students. A majority of these children previously lived and worked at Stoeng Meanchey, Phnom Penh's garbage dump. Due to the atrocious health conditions at the dump, nearly all of the children arrive at CCF and CCF2 suffering from an array of diseases, infections, malnutrition, or dehydration.

This PEPY Ride Medical Center will provide CCF2's 60 students with doctor visits, treatments, blood tests, medication, vaccinations, height/weight monitoring and dentistry. This money also allows CCF2 to provide the children with an essential vitamin regime they have never before had, to strengthen their weak immune systems. Furthermore, your charity will help us fund a year's worth of prescription medication for the children.

Once, with your help, we are able to reach our initial goals, further donations will go towards helping our August volunteer team to build Rainwater Harvesting Systems in cooperation with CCF and local NGOs. Each of our two teams hopes to build a MASSIVE 30,000 liter rainwater harvesting system at a rural elementary school. These units collect rainwater, purify it, and then store it for children and their families to use throughout both the rainy and dry season, providing them with drinking water, water to cook with, and water to wash with. Each system costs $2,000, and every additional $2000 we are able to raise allows us to provide one more school, its students, and their families with a constant source of clean, safe water.
