 Did you know?

In Mecklenburg County, children and youth spend 80% of their time out-of-school

Afterschool programs offer children and youth opportunities to learn new skills such as conflict resolution and preparation for successful careers, as well as the ability to develop relationships with caring adults. These skills can be critical in helping youth develop in positive ways prepared for further education, work and life.

Regular participation in high-quality afterschool programs is linked to significant gains in standardized test scores and work habits as well as reductions in behavior problems among disadvantaged students

Crime rate among young people triples between the hours of 3pm and 6pm. In their loneliness and boredom, unsupervised children more frequently become both victims and perpetrators of crime.   CMPD Police Chief Rodney Monroe
