Second Chance continues to help animals in need as well as pet owners. Adoptions of dog and cats were up 20% over the year before, which was also a record year.  The Wellness Center continues to grow and offer more services, including performing over 5,000 spay/neuter surgeries.  The shelter now helps over 10,000 pets a year through adoption, spay/neuter, wellness clinics, training, educational outreach, and the pet food pantry.  The shelter has now become one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in Central and Western Massachusetts.  The shelters focus is on keeping more pets out of shelters through innovative programs that help keep pets in their homes whenever possible, keeps them healthier, and improves the human/animal bond..
