The Society for Handicapped Children and Adults

Start Fundraising

For 65 years Society for Handicapped Children and Adults have been providing services and recreational programs for individuals with disabilities.

Society for Handicapped is 100% privately funded and we depend on generous individuals and community-minded companies for funding.

Please consider making a 100% tax deductible donation to our organization; no donation is too small and it is truly a great cause! We are a 5013c non profit organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. Federal tax id#94-1279804

What do we do? We HELP.

We operate the largest  LOAN CLOSET in our area. Loaning adaptive medical equipment and mobility aids to those in need in our community and surrounding communities.  In the last two years, our Loan Closet inventory has more than QUADRUPLED in size! This means we can accomodate even more people in need!

We Offer Educational, Social and Recreational Programs.

Adapted Sports such as bowling, biking, water skiing, snow skiing and golf are offered with Society for Handicapped as well as A Day on the Farm.  These programs and events are very exciting for our participants and give them a chance to try new things as well as enjoy their favorite activities, meet new friends and sustain valued friendships within the organization.

Sign Language Classes are taught quarterly by experienced Instructors.  Sign Language is not only valuable for people with hearing impairments but has proven to be quite useful for children with various other disabilities and babies!

The Special Needs Prom, now in it's THIRD year, is a night out for those 14 years and older with disabilities.  This Prom is not your average crepe paper and balloons high school dance! It is the formal event of the year! The event is a prom like atmosphere, with music, dancing, food and fun!   This is an event that everyone looks forward to. Last year, over 150 participants enjoyed the Prom!
