Second Annual GRADWalk

Saturday, June 16th, 2012

On Saturday, June 16th 2012, Students Rising Above will host our Second Annual GRADWalk 5K Walkathon. Participants of all ages can walk the specially designed 5K course in and around Hellman Hollow (formerly Speedway Meadow) in beautiful Golden Gate Park.

The SRA GRADWalk will raise essential funds to send our students to college and to increase the number of students selected into our program. 

Registering is easy....follow these steps:

1.  Click "Start Fundraising"

2.  Click the green “Select” button next to “2nd Annual GRADWalk 5K Walk-a-thon”

3. Click on green “Register” button on upper right side of page

4. Choose Participant Type (current SRA students and children 6 and under are free!) and click “Register”

5. Create your First Giving Account
--Select your page URL ( www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/YourNameHere )
--Option to join a team

6. Complete the Registration Form and design “Your Fundraiser Page”
--Page Title
--Your Story (see example below)
--Enter amount you hope to raise

Fundraising is even easier!  Customize your page by setting a fundraising goal and writing “your story” or a personal note. You can also add photographs. Here is an example:

On Saturday, June 16th, I’ll be walking in the Second Annual Students Rising Above (SRA) GRADWalk. This 5K walkathon in Golden Gate Park will help SRA raise awareness and funds to support low-income Bay Area students with dreams of a college education. Students Rising Above has a college graduation rate of 90% which is 2-3 times the national average for low-income, first generation students. Please support me in helping SRA increase the number of students selected into their program. I have set a goal to raise $500. Click “Donate” and you can easily make a contribution via credit card, or if you prefer, you can mail me a check made out to Students Rising Above.
