The Team With A Vision is a collaboration among the Association of Blind Citizens, Carroll Center for the Blind, Foundation Fighting Blindness, Greater Boston Guild for the Blind, MAB Community Services (formerly the Massachusetts Association for the Blind), National Braille Press, National Federation of the Blind, New England Eye Institute, and Perkins School for the Blind. These organizations have come together to form the Team With A Vision to raise awareness of the capabilities of individuals who are blind or visually impaired, and to raise funds for research, technology, advocacy, literacy, rehabilitation and other support services that enhance the quality of life of thousands of individuals. Our goal is to raise $150,000 for the organizations in this unique partnership, fostering academic, vocational, social and athletic independence and success.

Another unique aspect of our event is the awarding of prize money to the top five visually impaired men and women in the run. Prize money being awarded to visually impaired athletes is a rare occurrence. In fact, a Visually Impaired Division is seldom included in registration forms.

In 2002 and 2003 the top prizewinner was a Kenyan runner, Henry Wanyoike. Henry used his earnings to go to a rehabilitation school for the blind in Kenya and learned Braille, computer operations and how to use a knitting machine, enabling him to start his own business.

On Saturday, September 17th, you can make a difference in the lives of individuals who are blind or visually impaired in Massachusetts. Please help us reach our goal to raise $150,000 for the organizations in this unique event and partnership.
