The Surf City Run for Bears is a fundraiser to provide memorable Build-A-Bear Workshop® experiences for children with cancer and other serious illnesses. Supporters of UMPS CARE Charities will raise money for this wonderful children's hospital program and then meet on February 5th to run the Surf City Half Marathon.

A hospital stay can be a frightening time for children and their families. Major League Baseball umpires, sports team mascots, and professional sports photographers team up to host Build-A-Bear Workshop experiences at children's hospitals across the country. Hospitalized children make stuffed teddy bears, puppies or kittens while sharing high-fives with the mascots. With our support, UMPS CARE Charities will host 12 children's hospital events in 2012 including one at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).
