In January 2011, five United Ways in northern New Jersey – Morris , North Essex, Somerset , Sussex , and Warren Counties – consolidated to form United Way of Northern New Jersey. Our combined efforts allow for an increase in productivity, an extension of reach, and a maximization of resources. It allows us to create a greater impact on each individual community and thus the Northern New Jersey region as a whole.
The new United Way of Northern New Jersey is working to advance the common good by focusing on EDUCATION, INCOME and HEALTH. These are the building blocks for a good life – a quality education that leads to a stable job, the tools needed to achieve financial stability, and good health.
We aim to create long-lasting community change by addressing the underlying causes of the most significant local issues. We believe that it takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. We convene people from all across the community – government, business, faith groups, nonprofits, and fellow citizens – to tackle the issues.
Why? Because we all win when…
• A child is able to achieve their potential and succeed in school.
• A family becomes financially stable and independent.
• Individuals are able to achieve and maintain good health throughout all the stages of their lives.
