The scope of work which we provide at Woods Humane Society is continually evolving and expanding. Still, at the heart of everything that we do is the steadfast dedication to the welfare of companion animals throughout San Luis Obispo County. The success of our programs cannot be achieved without the support of friends like you.
The mission of Woods Humane Society is composed of four parts: to serve, protect and shelter homeless companion animals; to place animals in humane environments; to promote responsible pet ownership, provide humane education and reduce pet overpopulation; and to celebrate the human/animal bond. Your contributions and support help us work toward achieving these goals everyday.
Currently, Woods Humane Society is celebrating a 97% live release rate for all of the animals who temporary call our facility their home.

Woods Humane Society helps hundreds of animals find new and forever homes every year. In 2011, Woods will provide loving care for over 1300 dogs and cats, while spaying or neutering an equal amount of animals in our effort to directly address the growing surplus of unwanted litters in San Luis Obispo County. Woods Humane Society strives to be the premier animal shelter on the central coast and offers programs that include adoptions, volunteer, pet visitations to local retirement facilities, humane education in local elementary schools, and cooperative spay/neuter surgeries for other local animal rescue organizations. We are a private, non-profit organization that relies solely on the genrosity of our community to maintain our ongoing and growing operational cost. We have no doubt that we will meet our goals but we cannot continue our mission alone and your support is greatly needed
