My personal message:
Hi,

Thanks for visiting my NYWC Write-a-Thon Fundraising Page!  I can't wait for this year's Write-A-Thon, it's going be even bigger and better than last year.  I am especially looking forward to writing with Chris Baty, founder of National Novel Writing Month, which i participated in recently, and I wrote 50,000 words in a month!  June will be Script Frenzy month, where people write a screenplay in a month, and I'll be using the Write-A-Thon to churn out some pages of my script.

There will be other amazing writing related activities, and all the proceeds support NY Writers Coalition (NYWC), the non-profit organization I founded a few years ago to provide free creative writing workshops to unheard New Yorkers.  I am obviously partial to what we do, but I think our work is unique; our workshops are an extremely important oasis of creativity and mutual respect in the lives of hundreds of people who wouldn't otherwise have access to these powerful workshops.

If you're reading this page, chances are you know me and know of NYWC.  You may also know how hard all of us have worked over the last few years to build one of the largest community-based writing programs in the country.  I have probably not returned your call or email, or missed a reading you've done, or a party you've thrown.   Please don't hold that against me!  I've been consumed by work the last few years and wouldn't have been that way unless I fully believed in the power of what we've been doing!

So, if you're my friend, or you've been in a writing workshop with me, or NYWC provides a writing workshop to your organization, or you just think what we're doing is worthwhile, this is a GREAT way to show it!  Your support might even free up some of my time that I would have spent fundraising, and I can actually show up at one of your events or parties or meet you for coffee.

Plus, I must kick the a**es of my co-workers and win the staff competition, so please help me!

And finally, look how freaking cute Chester, my beagle, is!  That probably has nothing to do with anything, but come on, isn't he the greatest dog ever?

Aaron
