Hi, Thanks for contributing to the Write-A-Thon!  As you probably know, I founded NY Writers Coalition in 2001, with the idea of providing free creative writing workshops to unheard New Yorkers.  We've grown beyond my wildest dreams, to literally providing thousands of workshops throughout the city.  We serve a diverse group of people, providing community, a forum to be heard, and a safe and supportive place to develop new pieces of writing. 

It's impossible to describe the magic of one of our workshops.  For many of our workshop members, attending our free workshops is the most positive experience of their week.  We serve so many people, and recently added workshops for war veterans, domestic workers, and prisoners, to name a few.  More details are on our website:  www.nywriterscoalition.org.  

We are at a critical point, where economic pressures are putting non-profit organizations (us included) at great risk, so every single penny of support is huge right now.  And we are very proudly one of the leanest organizations out there.  We have a tiny staff and an amazing corps of workshop leaders who give so much of themselves.  We deliver a massive amount of programming on a relatively small budget, so we really need your help. I have set a very high goal for this year's Write-A-Thon, but i think we can get there!
