Join WKBW's John Borsa, AIDS Walk Honorary Chairperson
Walk with us on Saturday, May 30 and help fight AIDS by joining hundreds of Western New Yorkers walking in the 2009 AIDS Walk. You can walk solo, or start a team and ask family, friends, and co-workers to join you. The funds you raise go directly to programs and services that help HIV+ individuals and their families right here in our community, including medical treatment, case management, counseling, housing assistance and nutritious meals. It also helps fund HIV/AIDS prevention education for teens and other at-risk groups throughout Western New York.
Getting started is easy... it only takes a few moments!
- Click the Get Started button.
- Personalize the text and the photo on your Online Fundraising Page.
- Send the link out to your friends, family, colleagues - anyone you think will help you reach your goal.
The 2009 Walk route winds through some of Buffalo's finest neighborhoods, beginning and ending Lakeside at Delaware Park. On the day of the Walk, plan on arriving around 10:00 a.m. The Walk will kick off promptly at 11:00 a.m., rain or shine, with the annual flower launch. After the Walk, stay and enjoy a free picnic style lunch as our way of saying thank you for your efforts.
New to the 2009 AIDS Walk is the Red Ribbon Display - a collection of red ribbons honoring those living with HIV/AIDS and memorializing those who have lost their fight against the disease. The display will also serve to remind us that the fight against HIV/AIDS is not over. Consider including a loved one in this moving display. Names will be added to the large red ribbons, which will be affixed to 8" wooden posts. Each ribbon will then be placed into the ground on the hill adjacent to Hoyt Lake, prior to the annual flower launch, creating the new annual Red Ribbon Display. To purchase a red ribbon, visit www.firstgiving.com/redribbondisplay.
