It doesn't seem like a whole year since the last spin around Cayuga Lake. I took a newly rennovated 1980 lugged steel bike last year. This year Tamar (13 years) who is a "honorary member" of Team Belle Sherman (she went to Dewitt School), is joining me as my stoker on this tandem. Here is her fundraising webpage. It is fully lugged, steel tandem custom built by Bob Brown in St Paul, Minnesota. It features Davinci independent drive - this allows the tandemists to coast independently - a welcome relief on a long ride. This year I have joined Team CMC. This is a group of cycling enthusiasts at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. We want to use this ride to build up a sense of espirit de corps and to approach some larger sponsors to help us as a group. This is a cause that many of us feel passionately about as we confront the reality of HIV/AIDS in our daily work. We also want to promote aerobic exercise as a means to staying healthy - a great aim when we see so much heart disease, diabetes mellitus and obesity in our hospital. My son Sam (16 years), a blackbelt, ithaca highschool student and all around great kid is riding this year. Here is his fundraising webpage. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
