Lupus is stupid and I hate it.
If it had shins, I would kick it in it's shins.
I have good days and bad days. Lately, there have been more bad than good. But that's "normal" so you just have to take it one day at a time. I've decided rather than to endlessly whinge until my pain meds kick in today, I'm going to be proactive. There's probably not going to be a cure soon, but that's okay for now. With enough funding, at least researchers will be able to come up with more effective medications that don't have nearly the amount of side effects the current ones do. For example, chemotherapy isn't exactly the coolest way to get your body to stop attacking itself. Everyone has almost their "own" version of Lupus. My rheumatologist says none of his patients have symptoms presenting in the same way. I'm lucky in the fact I don't have the type which can be fatal, so I'm very grateful.
I know alot of you reading this are still poor college students & poor grad students, and that's ok. I don't want anyone to donate more than they feel comfortable doing. Even $1 is great. I figure if I get this out to as many people as possible and each person gives like $5 that's going to be a huge start. Of course, if you can donate more, please feel free to do so...and you're welcome to adopt my poor grad student self as well. ;) Just kidding.
But anyway, thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support. Many thanks to those of you who are forwarding this on to your own family and friends. Even if you can't donate at all, thank you so much for reading this. Especially a huge, huge thank you to everyone who has been part of my amazing support system over the years.
Love (with oodles of noodles),
Dani
For those of you who had the honour of knowing him, Oscar was my "big little brother" and not a single day goes by that I don't think about him. His 24th birthday would have been next month. He was always willing to volunteer to different organisations at A&M, so I've decided any funds should be in his memory. <3
Update - 10.30.08 -OMG, you guys are awesome!!! I tear up when I look at my little goal meter. :)
Update - 02.08.09 - Yeah, so Lupus gives you the dumb sometimes and actively campaigning for my page slipped my mind a bit. Oops. I upped the goal because it will be active a little into April and I think if I get the word out to as many people as possible, reaching our goal is definitely possible. Thank you again for stopping by, reading, passing along the word, etc. You guys are awesome.
