The Buddy Walk that we have participated in for the past 5 years is upon us again, and has been renamed to the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk. It is being held on Sunday, September 20, and like the walks that the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota (DSAM) has held for the last 11 years, this one has two very important elements: The first, and the one that we all primarily think of, is that it is a celebration and an opportunity to raise public awareness for our community, an opportunity to come together to recognize the achievements of our sons and daughters, and to also recognize the successes of all we have done together, and individually. It is free to anyone who wishes to join us - free t-shirts, food, games and LOTS of fun. The other very important element of the walk is that it is a critical piece of the fundraising goals for the Association and vital to their ability to create, maintain and expand the full range of programs and services. For the past eleven years, the walks have raised almost half of the funds needed on any given year to support the organization's programming. We know that asking for donations is complicated during these tough economic times, so thank you so much for considering our efforts and for any level of sponsorship you can manage. And please let us know if you'd like to join our team for the walk!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
