Hello loves! Thank you for visiting my fudraising page. I am new to this whole Lupus thing so being the spontaneous person that I am I decided I need to do whatever I can to help contribute to the Lupus Foundation of America.  If you do not already know, Systemic Lupus Erythmatosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that affects the major organs of the body, most commonly the lungs, kidneys and joints. There is NO known cause or cure for Lupus and that is why I would like to make my birthday a fundraising event.  I would love for you all to skip out on the hallmark cards, cash, checks, birthday shots, shoes and purses (yes I did just say that) and put that money toward my fundraising target!!

Here is a little bit of my story: After endless days of excruciating pain, many sleepless nights, countless tears of frustration, constant fear of the unknown, several test tubes of blood and many doctor's opinions later I finally got the news. (although Nurse Robin, my mama, had already diagnosed me a few days previous) so I was somewhat prepared for what the Rhumatologist at the Duke Lupus Clinic had to say which was at the young age of 22 for unknown reasons my body had developed Systemic Lupus Erythmatosus of the joints.  I will now take medication for the rest of my life to manage the "flare ups" and will soon become a "frequent flyer" at the Duke Lupus Clinic for blood work to be sure it doesn't spread to any major organs.  No worries tho-I will not let that happen! I am way to much of an optimist and the support given from my amazing parents and awesome family & friends continues to give me faith, hope, strength and courage every single day!

As a healthcare professional and now a Lupus patient (not victim) I want to do whatever I can to contribute to the Lupus Foundation of America.  I am just asking for a little support from you to help get on our way to finding a cure for this disturbing disease! Even 1 dollar will help make a difference in the 1.5 million American lives affected by Lupus today!
