My personal message:

We met our small dog area goal two weeks early (!), so the work has been scheduled and we should have a small dog area next week.  Huge kudos to the folks who donated, especially those who came in with hefty amounts (like Lois McKinley, Tim at City Pets, and the Kegleys).

Note that the $1000 is great, but DIG is still contributing $2000 beyond that amount, so we will continue to try to raise the full amount through our firstgiving page and via a couple of upcoming fundraisers (more info coming soon on those).  If you are really happy to have this for you and your small dog, and haven't contributed, consider throwing a few bucks our way, thanks!

Anyone that donates $50.00 or more will receive a free car wash, compliments of Neptune Car & Dog Wash at 614 W. 39th Street KCMO 64111. To receive your free car wash token, please email your address to Ali Kelley at alicia_gibbs@yahoo.com and your token will be mailed to you one day after receiving your mailing address. Thanks!

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.

A small dog area is included in the current expansion plans for the Penn Valley Off Leash Dog Park, however, due to the current economic climate, The Parks & Rec dept. does not have a budget to build it this year. The good news is that the contractor working on the current off leash park and parking lot expansion has generously offered to build the small dog area at a VERY reasonable cost, as he will be able to reuse some of the materials from the current expansion. If funds are not raised to build the small area NOW, we run the risk of either waiting years to see it to completion, or worse, never seeing it completed at all.

Small dogs (and dog owners) deserve the same opportunity to enjoy playing and socializing with their pals as the larger dogs do currently - in a safe, non-intimidating enviornment. We know you are out there, so PLEASE, help DIG seize this short window of opportunity!! If we build it, they WILL come!

The Dogpark Improvement Group (DIG) is a volunteer, non-profit organization composed of individuals coming together to raise funds to improve the Penn Valley Dogpark in Kansas City, MO. The group was started by MaryBeth Norsworthy in June of 2006.

For those interested in becoming a DIG volunteer or member, the only requirement for DIG membership is an in-person / e-mailed request to be a member, along with agreeing to work constructively in the group and respect the opinions of others. Please e-mail digannouncements@gmail.com to join!

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
