Richard and I have joined forces with a dedicated group of men and women as members of the Strides for Hope Marathon Training Team.  We are committed to raising money to help people living with cancer find emotional support, education and hope at The Wellness Community.

We started training in January to participate in the Big Sur International Marathon on April 27, 2008.  This will be our first marathon.  We have accepted the challenge because we want to make a difference in the lives of people living with cancer in the community.

If you or someone you know has ever been diagnosed with cancer, you know it can be as devastating emotionally as it is physically.  At The Wellness Community, people with cancer and their loved ones can find hope and enjoy a better quality of life.  All of the services are provided completely free of charge so fund raising programs like Strides for Hope are vital in keeping these services available.

We invite you to support us as we raise money to help people living with cancer and The Wellness Community.  We have made a commitment to raise a minimum of $2,500.  Our team has over 50 members and our collective goal is to raise $90,000.  This will underwrite services for 150 people living with cancer and their families in the coming year!  Your personal contribution will help us reach this goal and support this great organization.  Any amount you can provide will be greatly appreciated.  All donations are 100% tax deductible.

During the marathon, we will be celebrating cancer survivors and remembering loved ones who fought the disease and are no longer with us.  If you would like me to celebrate and remember soneone important in your life who has been affected by cancer, send me his or her name and I will carry it with me during the marathon.
