Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and making a gift in memory of my Mom, Diane Dolton, who died of ovarian cancer after battling the disease for just one short month.
In 2009, there were over 21,000 new cases of ovarian cancer in the United States, and over 14,000 deaths. Early detection of ovarian cancer offers a 90% cure rate. Sadly, a lack of symptoms from this silent disease means that about 75% of ovarian cancer cases will have spread to the abdomen by the time they are detected and, unfortunately, most patients die within five years. More research is needed to fight this silent killer, since current methods for testing are only useful in determining tumor growth, and not a reliable way to screen for ovarian cancer. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Many thanks from my family and me for your support.
