This year, I will be embarking in an experience of a lifetime.  I am involved with the Triabetes/Triabuddies project.  I, along with 14 other children with Type 1 diabetes, had been chosen to be mentored by Type 1 Triathletes training for Ironman Arizona.  Our mentors are amazing people who are teaching us that Type 1 diabetes does not have to hold us back from achieving our dreams.  This November, I will travel to California and sail and kayak the Channel Islands as I learn about managing my diabetes during exercise.  

During this wilderness expedition with trained guides and diabetic nurses, I will learn to deal with my diabetes, even in face of adversity in my life.  At the conclusion of this week, i will meet up with my Mentor, Denise Ricci, in Phoenix, AZ and cheer for her as she competes in Ironman Arizona.....I hope to run hand in hand through the finish line with my mentor.
