My personal note to all my friends and family, First, thank you for visiting my fundraiser page. Most of you probably know that my very sweet and lovable nephew, Jay Jae, was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome last year. He is a very huggable and energetic 2 year old, turning 3 on December 7th! He loves baths, bananas and anything that makes funny noises.. :) When he laughs you just cant help but laugh too.. they are very contagious! Of those that know me you often hear me talk about my nephew and the Angelman Syndrome. But the one thing that saddens me is that no one knows what it is. I often hear people say "what is that", "I’ve never heard of Angelman's". This is why it is so important for me to work with the Angelman Foundation to help increase awareness and bring in funds. Raising funds for such an unknown genetic disorder has been a very difficult fight as I find myself "competing" with all the other more well known foundations. Jay Jae's contagious laugh, smile and spirit help carry me through the times when I think this fight is not gaining any ground. This is why I am going to organize another Angelman Walk-A-Thon in Des Moines, IA! This will be our second in Des Moines.. :) If you can please donate and/or join me at the Walk-A-Thon it will be held on May 16th, 2009. The walk starts at the Des Moines Town Hall parking lot at 400 Robert D. Ray Dr. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:00 a.m. Registration is free and if you pre-register by April 22nd you will receive a free t-shirt (given at the site) and a free gift (while supplies last). You can pre-register by calling 1-800-432-6435 or online at www.angelman.org Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. To all my volunteers, friends and family that have already supported me - THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. To those that are visiting for the first time - thank you for visiting and for your support -- please forward this to friends and family who you think might want to donate too! With your support, we can make a difference! Ruth Delgado Angelman Walk Coordinator Auntie to Angel Jay Jae
